The high risk foot clinic is a part of the podiatry services in Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

It is co-located with the Diabetes Centre at Cairns North Community Health. We also see patients at Cairns Hospital.

We provide assessment, treatment and management of foot complications, including:

  • foot ulcers
  • diabetic foot ulcers
  • Charcot foot
  • people who have a history of chronic foot wounds.

Our services

Our services include:

  • wound management
  • off-loading for wounds and the Charcot foot
  • assessment of the blood flow to your feet
  • assessment of the sensation to your feet.

Who can access this service?

We provide podiatry services to eligible people with acute foot disease and high risk feet. A referral from a doctor or your GP is required.

For low risk care and general treatment, please discuss with your GP if a private podiatry referral is appropriate.

We are open Monday to Friday 8 am to 4.30 pm. Closed on public holidays.

Outreach clinics

We are based at the Cairns Diabetes Centre and the Cairns Hospital, however we also have outreach clinics to the following locations.

Telehealth appointments are offered where appropriate.
