Our vision

'Excellent and sustainable healthcare for all in Far North Queensland.'

Our purpose

'Working together for best-practice care that improves health outcomes and equity for our communities.'

Our values

Our values were developed by our staff, patients and community. They guide our work and actions every day. Our staff are part of the community we serve. We believe that we can improve health outcomes by involving our community in the planning and evaluation of their local health services.

Accountability

Being accountable means taking responsibility for meeting your commitments. It means producing results with your manager and team and playing a role in creating a great place to work. This includes taking personal pride in your work, helping to find solutions and working as part of a team.

We value accountability at all levels. It builds trust in our organisation, our people and our services. We work to earn respect from the people we've committed to helping by being responsible for our role in the community.

Compassion

We demonstrate that we care about the challenges facing our patients and colleagues by taking time to walk in their shoes. We value compassion and we recognise the importance of connecting with patients when they're most vulnerable. Compassion is delivered with a warm hello, a smile, by genuinely listening and following through on concerns. We know that this helps to create a positive and healing environment.

Integrity

Integrity is the choice between what's convenient and what's right. The integrity we show today is the legacy we create for tomorrow. We aim to be consistent in building respect and confidence from those we care about and care for.

We rely on our integrity to guide us when the choice isn't an easy one to make. It ensures our decisions are transparent, truthful and for the greater good of our patients, colleagues and communities.

Respect

Being treated with respect is a basic human right. It's a value that we embrace to create a positive place to work and heal. By showing respect to others, we're demonstrating that we value them and their unique thoughts and needs. We have a respectful approach to our work and care, as it builds strong relationships and trust. When you're using our health service, we encourage you to treat others as you'd like to be treated.
